MAYOR
Michaei 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Moreton
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 3, 2000
RE: LMCIT Liability Coverage — Waiver Form
The Council needs to decide if it wishes to continue to waive our statutory tort limits for
liability coverage. (Attached is pertinent information to help you consider this topic.) By
not waiving our statutory tort limits, we are telling the League of Minnesota Cities
Insurance Trust that any claims where the statutory limits of liability apply will be
governed by those limits, i.e. $300,000 per person and $1 million per occurrence. In
cases where the statutory limits do not apply, we have $1 million of liability coverage.
Staff would recommend continuing with our practice of not waiving our statutory tort
limits.
Page 29
