Hanson Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council FROM: Greg Schroeder, Public Works Director DATE: August 22, 2000 RE: Public Works Facilities Deficiency Study Consultant Selection As directed by the City Council, proposals were requested from nine firms to perform a deficiency study and report on the Public Works Department facilities in accordance with the attached scope of work. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the City of Little Canada's existing Public Works facilities, compare them to industry standards, and identify all deficiencies. The consultant will: • Determine if the existing facilities meet current industry standards. • Identify deficiencies with the existing city garage building. • Develop cost estimates to correct all deficiencies. • Determine the largest building that can be built on the existing city garage property with estimated construction cost. • With the assistance of the Public Works Department, determine if either a renovated city garage or new facility on the existing city garage site can accommodate future projected needs. Only five proposals were received and they were evaluated based on the following criteria: • Cost • Past Experience • Staff Qualifications /Approach • Ability to meet schedule • References A table showing the rating of the proposals based on the above criteria is attached. A scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best, was used to rate each proposal (see attached rating table.
