Most of the residents of Pitrina Park Terrace are requesting
a 3 way stop sign at that location. However, it would seem
appropriate to take a more moderate action and merely move
the 35 mile speed limit area to include the Allen
intersection and an adequate warning distance North of it.
We, the Board of Directors, are recommending and requesting
the reduced speed limit.
The sign changing the speed limit from 35 to 40 when going
North on Centerville Rd. should be moved to about 200 ft
North of Allen. The sign changing the speed limit from 40
to 35 when coming South on Centerville Rd should be about
300 ft North of Alien to allow more of a buffer for cars to
slow down. This increased distance is intended to
accommodate the many cars that are going faster than 40
miles per hour and give them a more comfortable
deceleration.
It is our hope that this moderate change will reduce the
risk to an acceptable level for most of the residents and
also keep the changes for drivers on Centerville Rd. at a
low level. Certainly, staying at 35 miles per hour for
another 1100 ft is a minimal annoyance and may be a benefit
considering the number of times they must slow down anyway.
Clearly, reducing our risk also reduces their risk so they
should accept it quite gracefully.
We would prefer a quick solution by changing the speed
limits, over a more severe and likely delayed solution by
adding a 3 way stop.
We respectfully request that you consider and approve this
change in your July 28 Council meeting and make any
necessary coordination with Ramsey County to get their
approval, and make the changes as soon as possible. We
would like to see the changes made before the fall traffic
increases as school starts in early September.
Sincerely;
Pitrina Park Terrace Board of Directors.
John Miller 2987 David Circle
t
Carl Helgeson 2990 David Circle
2x(/ Marge Prokosch 2987 Fratallone La,
Brad Rindal 427 Allen St.
David Thoelke 2991 David Circle
4AI/ fiereiie,i
Page 13
