The $30,000 additional cost did not cover
replacing all color concrete with paver bricks. Rather it only allowed for 6,700 square
yards of area versus 21,200 square yards of total colored concrete surface area.
The 6,700 -yard amount was for the colored concrete bands extending perpendicular from
behind the curb through the sidewalk panels. It did not include 14,500 square yards of
colored concrete between the sidewalk and the curb. (This is the area we all assumed
was being discussed.)
Due to time constraints, I instructed the Engineers to bid the project three ways. They
are:
♦ All color concrete (original design) - $135,135 plus engineering,
♦ Paver bricks between the curb and sidewalk (14,500 square yards) while
maintaining the colored concrete bands (6,700 square yards) - $195,745 plus
engineering;
♦ All paver bricks - $221,540 plus engineering.
I have large diagrams available for you to review to get a better feel for these options.
They are posted in the Council Chambers.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Page 102
