Dan Votellv
Patrol Operations
DATE: June 8, 1993
Subject: Strip Mall at C and Rice
Joel, per your request, I have conducted research into the
number of calls for service to this mall and specifically,
Bankshot Billiards.
Since the first of this year, the Sheriff's Office has
responded to a total of 41 calls for service to this Mall.
Nine of these calls have been specifically to Bankshot
Billiards. The following is a breakdown of the types of
calls to the Mall:
All Addresses Bankshot
Thefts = 12
criminal damage to property = 1
fights /assaults = 3
Recovered property = 2
Alarms = 7
assist citizens = 2
code enforcement = 1
fraud = 4
drunk party = 1
disorderly juveniles = 3
noise = 1
traffic = 1
accident = 1
harassment = 2
recovered prop = 1
fight = 1
theft = 1
drunk = 1
disorderly juvs = 2
noise = 1
traffic = 1
assist = 1
There is no computerized information available to suggest
whether these calls for service are extra ordinary at this
location, as measured against past occurrences. The manual
records system from years past is not very accurate. My
instincts tell me this is not a lot of calls for this type
of location and the traffic volume present.
I attempted to compare these calls for service to other
malls in Little Canada, and one strip mall located in
Roseville, that has a similar type of business that tends
to draw juveniles,(Video Arcade). I also did a sight visit
of these locations. I discovered that each mall has their
own specific setting and comparison between them is nearly
impossible. Some of the malls had lessor calls for
service, however, didn't have nearly the traffic volume
that the Bankshot Area mall has, nor were close to any
Page 86
