MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scaize
Jim LaVaile
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little- canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: February 4, 2000
RE: Proposed Transit Hub
Attached is a letter recently received from Arthur T. Leahy, General Manager of Metro Transit.
As the letter indicates, they are interested in a temporary transit hub along First Bank Drive
(Middle Street to Market Place Drive) that could accommodate six buses at one time. The
temporary transit hub proposed does not involve a park and ride facility. The site would
ultimately be replaced by a permanent hub to be located at the Public Works property on the
southwest intersection of Rice Street and I694.
Direction from the Council as to how you would like us to proceed with this item is needed. The
issues to be considered are as follows:
♦ Is the temporary transit hub is acceptable?
♦ Should we pursue this site as a permanent transit hub?
♦ Should a park and ride be incorporated with the permanent or temporary concept?
Your direction on this matter is appreciated.
JRH:kpp
Enclosure
Page 55
