Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.little - canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: December 30, 1999
RE: Guerin/Budget Power Property — Request for Marketing Proposals
I have submitted a Request for Proposals to market the Guerin/Budget Power corner. This
request did not go out until December 29 due to the fact I was soliciting input as to who the best
parties would be for this service. (A copy of the transmittal letter is attached.) I have already
had one response back indicating that the short timeline and the exclusions would prevent that
company from submitting a proposal. I am guessing that others may share that concern.
Therefore, I may need to extend the submittal date until the 21st of January. I would then suggest
we hold a workshop prior to our meeting on the 26th to review these proposals and decide on a
course of action we wish to follow. I am also going to delete the exclusion requirement in that it
may limit interest in this project.
It should also be noted that one party I talked to indicated this corner may not be very saleable
given the area's market conditions. He will be doing a more detailed review as part of his
proposal process.
I have continued to have discussions with other parties regarding their interest in this corner.
Obviously, if a theater project goes, it would be very easy to market this location. Without a
project creating a major attraction to the area, it will become more difficult to do so.
JRH:kpp
Enclosure
Page 14
