MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />JUNE 28, 2012 <br />Centerville Road and County Road D to provide a safer environment for <br />walkers and bikers. <br />JULY & The Director noted that the Commission's July meeting falls within the <br />AUGUST week of the 4th of July holiday and the August meeting falls on the <br />COMMISSION evening of the ice cream social. The consensus was that these meetings <br />MEETING should be rescheduled. The Director indicated that he would email the <br />DATES Commissioners potential meeting dates and, based on the majority, set new <br />dates for these meetings. The Director felt that both meetings will be <br />necessary to finalize the parks and trails priority listing. The hope would <br />be to present this listing to the Council at a workshop prior to their second <br />meeting in August. <br />PARKS & The Director reported the following: <br />RECREATION The Enhanced Fitness program has been well received and has <br />INFORMATION been extended into August. <br />The Little Canada Recreation Association is sponsoring a Twins <br />Game Bus Trip for children in the baseball and softball programs <br />on July 19th. 138 children and chaperones will be going to the <br />game. <br />The Farmer's Market is up and running as of this past Monday. <br />The Market is operating in the afternoons this year and based on <br />the number of people at the Market, this appears to be a good <br />timeframe. <br />The "Fri- County Fast Pitch Group is running a tournament at <br />Pioneer Park this Friday and Saturday for 12 to 14 year old girls. <br />Registration for adult fall softball leagues will begin soon. <br />The next Market Place Morning Talk is Wednesday, July <br />11th and <br />the subject is "The Healthy Brain: Maintaining Mental Fitness ". <br />Construction work on the parking lot adjacent to Gilbertson Field <br />is underway. During the work, it was discovered that some <br />additional subsoil work was needed, and that work will be finished <br />tomorrow. Repaving should occur next week. <br />LCRA held a very successful fast pitch tournament the first <br />weekend in June at Pioneer Park raising approximately $3,500. <br />Rosedale Chev donated some promotional items and equipment, as <br />well as $500, to the City's baseball and softball teams in exchange <br />for displaying a couple of banners on fences during games. <br />2 <br />
