less dwelling units in a single building by use of individual containers, The Contractor shall <br />provide all personnel, equipment, and facilities necessary to fulfill the terms and conditions of this <br />Contract. The Contractor shall provide said services in compliance with all applicable laws and <br />shall charge for said services on a volume -based schedule. <br />II. TERM OF CONTRACT. This Contract shall be in full force and effect for a five -year period <br />beginning January 1, 2012. <br />111. DEFINITIONS. For purposes of this Contract, the following terms shall have the following <br />meanings: <br />A. Additional Collection Service. Refuse in excess of the designated volume -base per <br />residential dwelling unit or residential dwelling units desiring collection of items from a <br />location other than the boulevard adjoining the curb. <br />B. Appliances. Household items such as, but not limited to, refrigerates stoves, <br />dishwashers, electronics as defined in this contract, garbage disposers, freezers, washers <br />and dryers, water heaters, microwave ovens, trash compactors, furnaces, air <br />conditioners, and dehumidifiers. "Appliances" includes the industry term "white <br />goods ". Gas ammonia appliances are not included under this definition as they are <br />considered hazardous waste. <br />C. Bulky Items. Large household items such as, but not limited to, bathtubs, beds, <br />mattresses, bikes, carpet and padding (less than 4 foot bundles & less than 45 pounds), <br />chairs, couches, doors, dressers, exercise equipment, garage door openers, gas grills <br />(without tank), lawnmowers (drained), pallets, water softeners, wheels /rims /tires, <br />windows, construction debris (less than 4 feet in length and less than 45 pounds), and <br />items that are too large to fit into the garbage cart or container. <br />D. Co- collection of Organics. The co- mingled collection of yard waste and food waste. <br />This may also include contaminated, non-recyclable paper. <br />E. Collection Service. Collection service is the process of collection and transportation of <br />refuse, yard waste and recyclables. <br />F. Contractor. Independent contractor means person or persons authorized by the <br />Contract to perform refuse collection services within the City. <br />G. Day- Certain Collection. Day - Certain collection is a City- approved plan for weekly <br />collection services by an established day - certain schedule. This schedule requires <br />refuse, yard waste, and recyclable collection on the same day of the week and is based <br />on a five (5) day, Monday through Friday, workweek. The only exceptions to the <br />"day- certain" plan shall be during those weeks in which occur legal holidays or the <br />pickup of major appliances under the Bulky Item designation. <br />-2- <br />3 <br />
