MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 11, 2012
customers' expectations and preference for the one -sort system. An
August 1st implementation date is planned.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -7 -120 — APPROVING THE FIRST
AMENDMENT TO ORGANIZED COLLECTION CONTRACT AS
PROPOSED BY CITY STAFF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
2012 SEAL The City Administrator reported that the City has received two quotes for
COATING 2012 seal coating, one from Allied Blacktop at $1.27 per square yard and
the other from Pearson Brothers at $1.34 per square yard. The
Administrator noted that last year Allied quoted $1.25 per square yard
before the City decided not to seal coat. Given the nominal increase and
the fact that Allied has done this work in the City numerous times and has
always done quality work, City staff recommends award of the low quote.
McGraw asked about the seal coating of County Road B -2. The
Administrator noted that this street was turned over to the City a number
of years ago and is the City's responsibility to maintain.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -7 -121— AWARDING THE LOW QUOTE OF
ALLIED BLACKTOP IN THE AMOUNT OF $L27 PER SQUARE
YARD FOR 2012 SEAL COATING WORK AS RECOMMENDED BY
CITY STAFF
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
MILLSTONE The City Administrator pointed out that as a result of a recent contest,
ROAD First Bank Drive has been renamed to Millstone Road. The Administrator
DEDICATION recommended that a dedication ceremony be held on Wednesday, July 25111
at 5:45 p.m. to officially rename the street. He indicated that in addition to
the Council, members of the Historical Society would be invited as well as
John Eastham, the individual who submitted the winning entry.
5
