MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />JUNE 9, 1999 <br />CUP FOR <br />METRO-. <br />CLEANING — <br />RUSS FISCHER <br />CUP FOR <br />OPEN AND <br />OUTDOOR <br />STORAGE — <br />3172/3174 RYAN <br />LANE — <br />CARLSON <br />SALES & <br />SERVICE <br />Montour reported that Russ Fischer, Metro Cleaning Services, 208 <br />Ryan Lane, has requested that the Commission table action on his <br />CUP application for open and outdoor storage as well as Variance <br />application from landscaping requirements until the July 8th Planning <br />Commission meeting. <br />Mr. Carson recommended tabling the CUP application for open and <br />outdoor storage as well as Variance from landscaping requirements as <br />requested by Mr. Russ Fischer, Metro - Cleaning Services, 208 Ryan Lane, <br />until the July 8, 1999 Planning Commission meeting. <br />Motion seconded by Kraemer. <br />Motion carried 5 — 0. <br />The Planning Commission reviewed the application submitted by Iris <br />Hunt, Carlson Sales & Service, for a Conditional Use Permit for open <br />and outdoor storage of equipment as an accessory use at 3172/3174 <br />Ryan Lane. <br />Mursko reported that the property owner has agreed to install new <br />slating in the existing cyclone fence on the property to screen the <br />open and outdoor storage. Mursko further reported that there are currently <br />6 parking places in the front of the building. The Code requires 13 spaces <br />for this site. Therefore, 7 spaces will be added at the rear of the building. <br />The applicant has agreed to submit a revised site plan showing these <br />spaces. The spaces will be marked and curbing will be installed. The <br />storage area is currently surfaced with dirt, and the applicant has agreed to <br />install Class V. <br />Montour asked if the City looks at zoning compliance issues when <br />processing all CUP applications. The City Planner replied that the City <br />attempts to address all zoning issues at that time. <br />Knudsen asked if there has been any discussion with the Sheriff s <br />Department on the screening issue, and suggested that the City obtain this <br />viewpoint. Knudsen suggested that the area might be a consideration in <br />whether or not to require screening, the Rice Street area for instance <br />versus Ryan Industrial Park. <br />The Planner reported that the Council has discussed the issue of screening. <br />He further pointed that outdoor storage is not allowed in the commercial <br />Page 20 <br />
