515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX (612) 484 -4538
June. 23, 1995
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Sralze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: St. Paul Board of Water Commissioners - Land Availability
As you will recall, the Planning Commission reviewed the proposal
of the St. Paul Board of Water Commissioners to sell property
they own within the City. It was the recommendation of the
Commission that the site located on Rice Street be rezoned PUD
with an office development land use designation, and the site on
Spruce Street be rezoned PUD with an I -P land use designation.
Based on that recommendation, the Council at its last meeting
asked that the City Planner comment on the zoning of parcels to
PUD with underlying land use designations. Attached is a memo
from the City Planner addressing this issue.
Also, the Park & Recreation Commission has reviewed the proposal
and have expressed interest in trail easements around the wetland
area on the site.
The Council also asked that staff at the St. Paul Water
Department be contacted for their reaction to the City's comments
thus far. I have been unable to reach the appropriate staff
people since they are on vacation. I would hope to have the
Water Department's comments available for Wednesday's meeting.
PAGE 8
