MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jam LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538 Joel R. Hanson
Email: cityhall @ci.11ttie- canada.mn.us
TO: Mayor & City Council Members
FROM: Elizabeth Mursko, Zoning Administrator
DATE: October 20, 1999
RE: Extension of December 31, 1999 Deadline for 3172 Ryan Lane
Ms. Iris Hunt, property owner at 3172 Ryan Lane, has requested an extension to her
December 31, 1999 deadline for the completion of the rear yard paving of the required
parking spaces due to environmental circumstances. Ms. Hunt has completed all the
other Conditional Use Permit (CUP) requirements for open and outdoor storage of
equipment and materials on property at 3172 Ryan Lane.
Ms. Hunt is requesting this extension because there is a concern that the property
located to the North may have some soil contamination and the possibility exists that
the contamination may have infiltrated into the property at 3172 Ryan Lane. Soil
borings to determine if any contamination exists have not been completed nor has the
final inspection by Ramsey County Pubic Health Environmental Health Department
been completed.
I discussed these issues with the Ramsey County inspector, Paul Gelbmann, assigned
to the case and he indicated that the final inspection would be completed on October
29, 1999. After this inspection a final report will be generated and distributed to
property owners (Russ Fischer and Iris Hunt) and the City of Little Canada City Staff
with the final results and recommendations for both properties,
Due to these circumstances, I am recommending an extension to the December 31,
1999 deadline to June 30, 2000 for the paving of the rear yard required parking spaces,
along with the approval of the alternate location of the parking area in the rear yard.
CC: Iris Hunt, Property Owner
Kathy Glanzer, Deputy Clerk
PAGE 235
