Mayor & City Council <br />December 10, 1999 <br />Page 2 <br />In an effort to reduce the frustration of finding meter readers and reduce the cost of reading our <br />meters, we requested proposals from the following companies to read our meters. Their <br />proposed rate to read meters through the end of the year 2000 (5 quarters) is shown: <br />Company Total (5 quarters) <br />St. Paul Water Utility No bid <br />TKDA $6,240 <br />Howard R. Green $6,000 <br />SEH $14,900 <br />U.S. Filter No bid <br />Item 41040 Temporary Employee in the 2000 water budget shows $3,000 for reading water <br />meters for four quarters. <br />Even though there is not sufficient funds in the 2000 budget for this work, it is recommended <br />that the Council authorize staff to execute a contract with Howard R.
