Frattalone Excavating and Grading, Inc. (FMF) started business in 1970 with Frank
Frattalone being the sole employee. Frank purchased his first office /shop off County
Road C in Little Canada; he outgrew that facility and built our existing facility in 1982.
We have had several additions and improvements since then.
Currently we employ over 200 people at FMF, 40 people at Frattalone Paving, and 10
people at Fra -Dor Recycle. We also subcontract trucking, concrete work, and
landscaping services. Some of our subcontractors are also Little Canada firms. We also
purchase fuel, equipment parts, and supplies from Little Canada firms. We perform
construction projects and development projects in Little Canada. We have become a
major company and employer in your city, making a significant contribution to Little
Canada's economic growth.
Like any business, ours is cyclical, we have our highs and lows. We have diversified our
business to maintain steady growth and a reliable /experienced workforce. In Minnesota
steady work in the "off season" can be a challenge. It is important to keep our key people
employed so we started a demolition division. This has been a very successful division
for our company. There is also a lot of competition in the demolition sector. Almost all
of our work is based on low /competitive bid situations.
As a member or the National Association of Demolition Contractors (NADC) it is our
responsibility to ensure that environmentally responsible practices are used to reduce the
amount of recyclable materials going into our landfills. The days of cheap landfills and
low transportation costs are a thing of the past. It is now, and has been, our daily practice
to sort and select resalable and recyclable materials. Scrap iron, rebar, aluminum,
stainless steel and copper are taken to metal salvage facilities. Wood can be reused as
building lumber, landscape mulch, pulp chips and fuel. Bricks are cleaned for reuse.
Concrete debris is pulverized and used as road sub -base. Recycling benefits everyone.
COMMERCIAL • INDUSTRIAL • N rage 1 'S • DEMOLITION • ENVIRONMENTAL
