515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 484 -2177 / FAX: (651) 484 -4538
TO: Mayor & Council Members
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: January 8, 1999
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
RE: Staff Recommendation for Publication of City Council Floor Agenda
& Minutes
Should the Council wish to achieve monetary savings, the following would be City
Staff's recommendations:
1. Discontinue publication of City Council floor agenda and minutes. (savings =
$3276.00 per year)
2. Increase broadcast schedule of City Council meeting playback on CAN Channel
16.
3. Implement programming schedule on Channel 16 to show playback times.
4. Promote Universal Access Cable TV hookup to all Little Canada residents. (This
provides for installation of all public, educational and governmental channels at no
cost to residents.)
5. Attempt to place City Council floor agenda on Information Line (481- 0348).
Currently this is not possible due to length, but city staff will research this issue to
see whether it can be resolved.
6. City staff will distribute the minutes at no cost to residents who request them.
(Based on publication costs of $3276.00, city staff estimates seventy -five (75)
people could be served with no additional cost to the city.) Other patron requests for
minutes would be charged at a rate of 25 cents per page.
Page 39
