[TYPES OF LIGHTING INSTALLED <br />Additional lights in already lighted areas will be of comparable size and type. The city <br />may choose to install a more efficient and /or effective type of luminaire. <br />All new developed areas or large existing unlit areas where underground wiring is <br />present shall be serviced by buried cable and lit with 100 -watt high - pressure sodium or <br />its equivalent in the City's custom residential fixture. <br />Ornamental streetlights will be considered on a case by case basis by the City Council <br />and shall meet, as a minimum, the location, wattage standards and design standard <br />herein. <br />Arterial and collector roads shall be illuminated as directed by the Public Works <br />Supeafiser Director. <br />Residential street lighting shall be per the atiest:led -city standards determined by the <br />Public Works Director. The city standards may be updated and /or changed to match <br />City needs. <br />PAYMENT OF STREETLIGHTS <br />The City of Little Canada pays for street lighting pewee energy cost from the City's <br />general fund. At this time the City does not assess pewee energy cost to affected <br />residents. <br />In private areas, the Association or owners pay for installation and pew energy cost. <br />The specific areas where ornamental street lighting is approved, the residents will be <br />required to pay for the extra cost of placement, pewee energy and maintenance costs <br />over and above the City standard residential light (as an assessment). <br />When the city installs a new light, it will be through NSP. All lights are NSP owned and <br />maintained (except by special agreement). <br />On new public streets in development areas, the developer is required to pay any oxtra <br />costs, if any, to install NSP ownod ctroot lights. the up front capital costs to install street <br />lighting. The City will pain ownership of these lights upon development completion and <br />will be responsible for the energy and maintenance costs. NSP will maintain all City <br />owned lights. <br />Page 65 <br />
