Ramsey - Washington Metro
c`c)
a
C L
December 14, 1998
Joel Hanson
City of Little Canada
515 E. Little Canada Rd.
Little Canada, MN 55117
District
Re: County Road B2 and Lake Gervais Beach Project.
Dear Joel:
COUrIt•r 7.cad 8
;occ, :`. /IN 55109
(55 1) 704-2089
(551) 794 -2092
a -maii: rivmwd@r-rrtn.org
As a result of our recent staff meeting, I promised to write to each of the potential project
participants and request a commitment to the project elements we discussed. I have attached a
list of the various project elements which also identify the portion of each project to be
completed or paid for by either the District, the City of Little Canada, or Ramsey County (Parks
or Public Works). The District Board reviewed the project at it's December 2 meeting and
approved the project elements, contingency and engineering costs identified.
As you know, the District assumed the responsibility for researching the drainage problems on
County Road B2 and at the outlet of the storm sewer from Edgerton Road. The District has spent
approximately $8,000 in engineering fees and several weeks of other staff time to analyze the
problem and identify possible solutions. These problems have existed for nearly a decade and
have taken considerable staff and maintenance crew resources. The solutions to the drainage
problems are complicated and clearly require a collaborative approach.
After four or five joint staff meetings and two public meetings, a plan has been prepared that is
supported by Little Canada, Watershed District, Ramsey County Public Works and Ramsey
County Parks staff. You received a set of project plans at our last meeting along with the
attached cost breakdown.
I am writing to request the City's official commitment to this project. We would like to prepare
project plans that include all project elements in a coordinated joint project to be completed
during the 1999 construction season. The District is willing to continue to provide project
coordination as needed to complete this project. We need the approval of all the government
agencies involved to accomplish the drainage and water quality goals of this project.
Please review the attached cost distribution and give me your approval to proceed by January 8,
1999. Please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns. I would also be willing to
attend any meeting necessary to review the problems and proposed solutions. Thank you for
your willingness to collaborate in the solution to these drainage problems.
Sincerely,
Clifton J. Aichinger,
Administrator
Page 90
