MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 11, 1999
Keis asked if all the lots were buildable as proposed, informing LaTendre
that the City would not be interested in granting variances on the
individual lots.
LaTendre pointed out that the concept show 18 Lots. However, the number
of lots could be reduced to 17 if necessary. LaTendre pointed out that the
DNR will be out to mark the high water mark, and this designation may
affect the number of lots that they will propose. LaTendre indicated that
he wanted the Commission's feeling on the concept at this point. He will
also need input from the Public Works Department and Fire Department
on issues such as the water main, public versus private street, and fire
access. LaTendre indicated that he will raise the issue of the walking path
with the Parks & Recreation Commission.
Keis indicated that he had no problem with the concept as proposed. The
cul -de -sac is too long, but there appears to be no alternative to that. With
regard to public versus private street, the Planning Commission indicated
that they were not prepared to address that issue at this time.
LaTendre suggested that he address the issues outlined above with Public
Works, the Fire Department, and the Parks & Recreation Commission, and
then come back to the Planning Commission for a more definite direction
on the concept.
COMP PLAN The City Planner reported that the City's Comp Plan update was sent to
UPDATE the Met Council on December 31st. From that point there is a two -month
comment period. The City of Maplewood had some comments regarding
boundary lines shown on some of the maps. The Watershed commented
about the incorporation of their watershed management plan into the
City's Plan. The Planner indicated that once the Met Council makes their
comments, the Comp Plan will be modified incorporating all the changes,
and will be brought to the Planning Commission and Council for adoption.
WORKSHOP It was the consensus of the Commission to discuss the scheduling of a
WILL. I'HE workshop with the Council some time in the future.
COUNCIL
NATURAL Carson reminded the Commission that he is the City's representative
RESOURCES on the Natural Resources Board of the Ramsey/Washington Metro
BOARD Watershed District. Carson reported that any disruption of an acre of
more of land requires permits from the Watershed as well as the City.
Carson suggested it would be more efficient if applicants could make
application for all permits at one location.
Page 20
