MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 25, 1999 <br />SUMP PUMP <br />INSPECTION <br />PROGRAM <br />LT1 ILE CANADA <br />HISTORICAL <br />SOCIETY — <br />REQUEST TO <br />CONDUCT <br />GAMBLING <br />Mr. LaVaile introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99 -5 -125 — AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE <br />OF UP TO S2,700 TOWARD THE COST OF THAT PORTION OF <br />THE CITY OF VADNAIS HEIGHTS' COMPREHENSIVE WATER <br />STUDY THAT INCLUDES LIl ILE CANADA AND SUBJECT TO <br />THE APPROPRIATE COST SHARING FOR ANY VADNAIS <br />HEIGHTS PROPERTIES INCLUDED IN THIS PORTION OF THE <br />STUDY, AND TABLING ACTION ON THE TWIN LAKE PINES <br />ADDITION UNTIL THE JUNE 22, 1999 CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />PENDING RECEIPT OF A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE CITY OF VADNAIS HEIGHTS, AND PENDING RECEIPT OF <br />A LETTER FROM MR. PRATT AGREEING TO THAT EXTENSION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (4) LaVaile, Fahey, Pedersen, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Fahey opened the public hearing to consider enactment of a City -wide <br />sump pump inspection program. The Council reviewed the guidelines <br />for administration of this program as submitted by City staff. <br />There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Scalze, seconded by Pedersen, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 99- 5- 126 — ADOPTING THE SUMP PUMP <br />INSPECTION PROGRAM AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY STAFF <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaVaile. <br />Ayes (4) Scalze, LaVaile, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Jean Donovan, Little Canada Historical Society, appeared before the <br />Council and reported that the Historical Society would like to conduct <br />charitable gambling in order to earn funds to repay the City for the cost <br />of their new site. Donovan reported that Lake Owasso has agreed to <br />give up one of their days at the Little Canada Bingo Hall to the Historical <br />Society. Betty Strohbeen of Lake Owasso has also agreed to assist the <br />Historical Society in getting their gambling operation off the ground. <br />Page 49 <br />
