WELCOME
MINUTES
TWIN LAKE
PINES PARK
CHARGE
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
MARCH 4, 1999
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation
Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 4th day of March, 1999
in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 East Little Canada Road in said
City.
Chair Muriel Bianchi called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of
the Commission were present at roll call:
MEMBERS PRESENT:
ALSO PRESENT:
Ms. Muriel Bianchi, Chair
Mr. Matthew Anderson
Mr. David Gray
Ms. Karen Johnson
Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser
Mr. Robert Schabacker
Ms. Kathleen Smith
Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary
Bianchi welcomed new member David Gray to the Commission and thanked him for
volunteering his time as a member of the Commission.
Smith moved that the minutes of the February 4, 1999 meeting be approved as submitted.
Motion seconded by Schabacker.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
The Director stated that after discussions with the City Administrator and the Park
Consultant, it was their conclusion that the City would not be interested in having any kind
of park in the Twin Lake Pines location. They would recommend cash in lieu of land for the
park charge on that development.
The Director stated that there is an existing trail on Vadnais Boulevard next to the Vadnais
Heights' homes in the Mitchell Preserve that the developers installed adjacent to the roadway
as part of their project. He stated that he would like to see the developer continue that trail as
part of the Twin Lake Pines project. The Director felt that the trail should be installed
independent of any park charge.
Johnson recommended that cash be accepted in lieu of land for the Twin Lake Pines park
charge.
Motion seconded by Sackett Glaser.
Page 50
