MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />December 3, 1998 <br />Anderson recommended preservation of the Round Lake pump house on Little Canada <br />Road <br />Motion seconded by Bianchi. <br />Motion carried 5 -0. <br />CAPITAL Christensen stated that at the last meeting, the City Administrator asked the Commission to <br />IMP. BUDGET prioritize parks and recreation items for future years into the capital improvement budget. <br />After much discussion, the Commission recommended the following items be budgeted: <br />Year Item Amount <br />1999 Gervais Mill Site Amenities and Improvements 315,000 <br />(Remove 335,000 budgeted for "Gervais Mill Path ") <br />1999 Spooner Bocce Ball Court Amenities 2,500 <br />1999 Spooner Irrigation System — Gilbertson 5,000 <br />1999 Spooner/Eli Road Post and Chain Improvements 25,000 <br />(had been 315,000 — increased to 325,000) <br />1999 Restoration of Round Lake Pump House 5,000 <br />1999 Trail Amenities — Maps, Brochures, Kiosks, etc. 5,000 <br />1999 Landscaping of New Parking Entrance at Gervais Mill Park • 5,000 <br />1999 Nadeau Park Observation Area 5,000 <br />2000 Pioneer Soccer and Ball Field Lighting 192,000 <br />(Remove the 346,000 budgeted in 1999 Also, remove <br />the 3100,000 budgeted in 2003) <br />2000 Spooner Trails Upgrade/Maintenance 50,000* <br />2001 Rushes of Gervais Boardwalk 20,000 <br />2001 Westwinds Park and Trail Connection 75,000 <br />2001 Demont Parking Lot Paving 25,000 <br />2002 Round Lake Park and Trail Development 75,000 <br />2002 Connect to Shoreview Trail 200,000* <br />2002 Amenities for Existing Trails 50,000* <br />2003 Amenities for Existing Trails 50,000* <br />2003 Gervais Mill Picnic Shelter/Nature Center 210,000 <br />*Potentially reduced through grants. <br />The Commission also recommended removing the "Footbridge between Water Works and <br />Spooner" and "Future Programmed Items" from the budget entirely. <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />Page 32 <br />
