Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINIsi7MTOR
Joel R Hanson
Since the last budget hearing on November 25th, we have made several revisions to the 1999
budget as follows:
The general fund budget has been lowered based on the salary discussions I had with each of you
in the last two weeks.
We have revised the Park & Recreation section of the General Capital Improvement Budget
based on the Park Commission's recent prioritization process to the extent that it corresponded
with previous budget figures. A copy of their listing is attached.
We have also added a voice mail system upgrade to the administration section of the General
Capital Improvement Budget. This system would allow us to keep our current telephones, but
would upgrade the voice mail and KSU (brain box), and would provide a feature known as direct
inward dialing, or in other words, each employee would have their own direct phone number
without having to add any additional phone lines. Our rationale for this upgrade is that the
volume of calls coming into the main line would be significantly reduced thus greatly improving
Kris' and Barb's productivity. We feel this option would allow us to effectively staff the front
office with two people versus three for several years or more. In addition, the new system would
be year 2000 compliant, which would solve our concerns with the current system. While more
research is currently being done on this issue, staff strongly recommends this option be
implemented as soon as possible!
JR.H/jmc
Page 31
