Jim Gregor stated that Australian is proposed to be a connecting path between Jackson Street
and Lakeshore Avenue. He asked what the Parks and Recreation Commission's position was
on that. The City Administrator stated that he did not recall their exact position, but believed
they felt this was an appropriate connection and met with long -term trail objectives.
Mr. Gregor stated that a path is typically 8' wide and felt that this portion should be paid for
by the City. The City Administrator stated that this issue was raised at the last neighborhood
meeting and his position was the City would not pay for the 8' of roadway to be used as a
path because it would be inconsistent with past practices. He noted that the Parks and
Recreation Commission can comment on this project as to its appropriateness.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the City Administrator stated that given the consensus of the
neighborhood, staff was not opposed to postponing these projects until the next construction
cycle based on the neighborhood's comfort level with continuing with existing conditions.
There being no further questions, the neighborhood meeting was adjourned.
Page 51
