The final ranking assigned by the 10% Committee for your consideration is as follows:
1. Fire Rescue Truck
2. Ball Field Lighting at Pioneer Park
3. Basketball Courts at Little Canada School
4. Canadian Days Fire Works
5. P.A. System for Pioneer Park
6. Little Canada School Backstops
7. Pioneer Park Volleyball Court
8. Handicap Playground Equipment
9. Thunderbay Backstops
$50,000
46,000
6,500
4,000
3,000
20,000
4,000
5,000
1,000
(1998 GCIF budgeted item)
(1998 GCIF budgeted item)
(1998 GCIF budgeted item)
(1998 GCIF budgeted item)
It was the recommendation of the Committee that the Council fund all items as listed subject to
available funding. This recommendation was unanimously passed by the Committee.
Therefore, the Council will have to make a decision as to how the listing should be addressed.
From my standpoint, it would be helpful to have your decision at this time in order that I can
make appropriate adjustments in other funds depending on the outcome of your decision.
One last item for your consideration is an update to the request for funding for Little Canada
School Basketball Court project. Attached is a letter from Muriel Bianchi asking us to modify
the funding level from $6,500 to $8,620 (an increase of $2,120). Given the cooperative nature of
this project, I would recommend the Council increase the authorized allocation to $8,620 subject
to documental attempts at additional fundraising (NSYA ?) for the increase. It appears the
project will not be constructed until next spring so this course of action should not jeopardize its
success.
JH:bj
CC: Muriel Bianchi
Page 33
