MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />SEPTEMBER 10, 1998 <br />existing greenhouse, and the consensus was that the greenhouse was fine <br />as is. <br />Keis noted that with a 30 -foot front and rear yard setback, there was not <br />much buildable area for a house. The Planner estimated that there is 38 <br />feet of depth left for a house and noted that the lot is wide, which provides <br />additional building area. <br />Barraclough recommended approval of the property division for 3003 <br />Greenbrier Street as requested by Randy Urman subject to compliance <br />with the recommendations of the City Planner as outlined in his report <br />dated September 4`h and subject to removal of the shed from the property. <br />Motion seconded by Knudsen. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />CUP FOR Mr. Dick Cossack, owner of Gordies' Place, appeared before the <br />BOOT Commission requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow <br />HOCKEY — him to operate a boot hockey league at Gordies' during the winter <br />GORDIES months. Cossack is asking for boot hockey six nights per week during the <br />hours of 6 P.M. and 10 P.M. with the possibility of three tournaments per <br />year. <br />The Commission discussed the proposed extension of the volleyball court <br />to accommodate boot hockey and asked about balls from the court flying <br />onto adjacent property. Cossack replied that there would be netting <br />installed to prevent this. Cossack explained that boot hockey is hockey <br />without skates and players use a ball rather than a puck. <br />The Commission discussed screening, and it was noted that the recent <br />amendment to Gordies' CUP for volleyball did not carry a requirement for <br />screening. The City Council left the option open to require screening in <br />the future should any problems arise which could be resolved by <br />screening. <br />Knudsen asked about additional lighting. <br />Cossack indicated that if additional lighting is needed, he would install it <br />on the existing light pole. Lights would be faced away from the adjacent <br />apartment building. <br />The Commission discussed parking, and Cossack indicated that the <br />expansion of the court for boot hockey will result in the loss of some <br />Page 21 <br />
