LOCAL AND REGIONAL SYSTEMS The following elements of the Comprehensive Plan focus on Little Canada's community facilities, transportation system, and housing stock. Each one of these sections will briefly be described, followed by definition of goals and an application of each goals and policies identified for each. Community Facilities The services and facilities provided by the public are a broad encompassing number of items which serve to protect the health and welfare of residents plus enhance the quality of their living environment. There are also matters in which the City may have a very direct and immediate impact as it relates to community character and development. To ensure a high quality of life within the City, it is imperative that adequate community facilities are provided for Little Canada residents. Such facilities typically include, schools, parks, open space, trails, and public utilities. It is important that the City continues to develop, these facilities are continually improved and /or expanded to accommodate citizen need Schools Little Canada is located primarily within the Roseville Area School District #621. There are four schools located within the City of Little Canada (refer to the Community Facilities Map). Little Canada Elementary, located on Eli Road, Capital View Jr. High School, St. Johns (private), and Capital View SYSTEMS 1 Center located on County Road B2, St. Johns (private school) located at the comer of Little Canada Road and McMenemy Street, and Capitol View Center located on Rice Street at County Road B2. Public Facilities As shown on the Community Facilities Map, the Little Canada City Center, which houses the administrative offices and Council chambers, is located on Little Canada Road between I -35E and Edgerton Street. The Public Works department operates out of a facility near the Ryan Industrial Park on Country Drive, south of I -694. Police protection is provided by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. This remains the most cost effective method of police protection to the community. Fire protection for the City is provided by the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Department, a unit of 36 members. A new fire station facility was constructed in 1991 at the corner of Little Canada Road and Centerville Road. The Fire Department routinely cooperates with surrounding communities to provide additional fire protection services as warranted. Utilities The City Little Canada is located entirely within the Metropolitan Urban Service Area.
