LOCAL AND REGIONAL <br />SYSTEMS <br />The following elements of the <br />Comprehensive Plan focus on Little Canada's <br />community facilities, transportation system, <br />and housing stock. Each one of these <br />sections will briefly be described, followed <br />by definition of goals and an application of <br />each goals and policies identified for each. <br />Community Facilities <br />The services and facilities provided by the <br />public are a broad encompassing number of <br />items which serve to protect the health and <br />welfare of residents plus enhance the quality <br />of their living environment. There are also <br />matters in which the City may have a very <br />direct and immediate impact as it relates to <br />community character and development. <br />To ensure a high quality of life within the <br />City, it is imperative that adequate <br />community facilities are provided for Little <br />Canada residents. Such facilities typically <br />include, schools, parks, open space, trails, <br />and public utilities. It is important that the <br />City continues to develop, these facilities are <br />continually improved and /or expanded to <br />accommodate citizen need <br />Schools <br />Little Canada is located primarily within the <br />Roseville Area School District #621. There <br />are four schools located within the City of <br />Little Canada (refer to the Community <br />Facilities Map). Little Canada Elementary, <br />located on Eli Road, Capital View Jr. High <br />School, St. Johns (private), and Capital View <br />SYSTEMS 1 <br />Center located on County Road B2, St. Johns <br />(private school) located at the comer of Little <br />Canada Road and McMenemy Street, and <br />Capitol View Center located on Rice Street at <br />County Road B2. <br />Public Facilities <br />As shown on the Community Facilities Map, <br />the Little Canada City Center, which houses <br />the administrative offices and Council <br />chambers, is located on Little Canada Road <br />between I -35E and Edgerton Street. The <br />Public Works department operates out of a <br />facility near the Ryan Industrial Park on <br />Country Drive, south of I -694. <br />Police protection is provided by the Ramsey <br />County Sheriff's Department. This remains <br />the most cost effective method of police <br />protection to the community. <br />Fire protection for the City is provided by <br />the Little Canada Volunteer Fire Department, <br />a unit of 36 members. A new fire station <br />facility was constructed in 1991 at the corner <br />of Little Canada Road and Centerville Road. <br />The Fire Department routinely cooperates <br />with surrounding communities to provide <br />additional fire protection services as <br />warranted. <br />Utilities <br />The City Little Canada is located entirely <br />within the Metropolitan Urban Service Area. <br />Both the sewer and water systems were <br />designed to accommodate significant growth <br />LITTLE CANADA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Page 58 <br />LOCAL AND REGIONAL SYSTEMS <br />
