The Council could consider a <br />text amendment to provide for a procedure to re- establish a lapsed grandfathered use, but <br />the City Attorney commented that there are some legal pitfalls that would need to be <br />considered in doing so. <br />• The City Council could consider a text amendment to allow Auto Repair and /or Auto <br />Sales in the [ -P zoning district. Staff is not recommending this given our on -going issues <br />with these types of businesses (see Moratorium agenda topic). <br />• The Council could consider a text amendment to allow personal storage in various zoning <br />districts as a permitted or conditional use. In discussing this option with the City Planner, <br />he did not recommend this given the potential impacts on the tax base, loss of the <br />potential to gain jobs if the space isn't available to commercial users, and that he is not <br />aware of any community that does this. <br />Mr. Meyer will be present at Wednesday's meeting to discuss this issue in greater detail. As the <br />conditions currently exist, Mr. Meyer does not have a viable use for this building. While staff <br />does understand the negative economic impact Mr. Meyer is experiencing, we do not have a <br />recommendation that would be favorable to his interests given the precedent that would be set, <br />cc: Ken Meyer <br />2 <br />
