Equipment: Bobcat Toolcat Utility Vehicle: $43,000
Flail Attachment: $7,900 (separate line item)
The Public Works Department proposed to purchase a new Toolcat in 2013 with the current
Toolcat transferred to the Parks Department. The Toolcat is a very versatile piece of equipment
that is primarily used for snow removal on sidewalks and trails in the winter and boulevard
mowing in the summer. It has also been used for hauling materials to sites that aren't accessible
with larger trucks and for sweeping up parking lots and other areas. The Toolcat provides good
comfort for the operator in both winter and summer. The attachment on the Toolcat on the
bottom picture is a flail mower that is proposed to be purchased for boulevard mowing. The
original mower deck has worked for mowing boulevards but the flail mower is a better
attachment for the rugged mowing that needs to be done along boulevards. All of the
attachments that we have for the Bobcat skidsteer loader work on the Toolcat as well.
New Equipment:
Existing Toolcat:
Tarps for Dump Truck - $1,850 — 2013. These are used to keep materials securely within
the dump box and not flying out on to roadways. It will also be used to help keep asphalt
warm for patching operations.
