Previous estimates were based on a 12,000 square foot facility. The goal in this change is to
ensure we have provided for an adequate facility and budget at this preliminary stage. This fund
handles some large expenditure the next few years but still holds up well. Three new items in
this fund involves the replacement of water valves on Keller Parkway, manhole repairs, and new
variable speed pumps in the booster station. See below for more details.
Project: Replace Bolts on gate valves on Keller Parkway $75,000
Over the past five years three different gate valves along Keller Parkway have leaked due
to corroded bolts giving way. The bolts have not held up in the acidic soils along that
stretch of road. The top picture above is a gate valve. The bolts around the perimeter as
well as the two bolts just below the black nut are the ones that have typically gone bad.
The bottom picture shows what these bolts look like when they are pulled from the valve.
Rather than wait for the remaining valves to spring leaks and cause excessive water loss
and unplanned emergency water shutoffs we thought it would be a better idea to put a
project together to replace the bolts in the remaining valves along Keller Parkway. This
way we can give residents proper notification of the water shutoff and eliminate water
loss.
Project: Manhole Repair $10,000
