PaSS eanaala
MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Rick Montour
John Keis
Michael McGraw
Shelly Boss
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600 ADMINISTRATOR
(651) 766 -4029 / FAX: (651) 766 -4048 Joel R. Hanson
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director
DATE: October 19, 2012
RE: Rondeau Park Follow -Up
After our neighborhood meeting with the Rondeau Park area, staff has been addressing
the issues raised that evening. Here is where things currently stand:
Malfunctioning Street Light — Corner of Jackson & Bryan — right after the
neighborhood meeting, staff turned in a repair request to Xcel for that light. We have
also been told that Jim Boss made repairs to the light. We have not verified that the light
is working, but based on past experience, this issue should be resolved. (As an aside, we
will put an article in the next newsletter about street light repairs so people either contact
Xcel or let us know about outages so we can get them repaired promptly.)
Undergrowth Removal by Ponds on East Side of Park — Staff has reviewed this and
we will be removing the brush this winter. The Parks & Recreation Department will be
conferring with Deputy Eastham to make sure our plan accomplishes the objectives he
outlined at the neighborhood meeting. We will also be sending out some information to
the Park View Court residents to make sure our plans are not inconsistent with screening
concerns of these properties.
Additional Street Lights in this Area - Staff looked at the entire Jackson, Bryan,
Labore, and Maple neighborhood to see if the street lighting in the area was consistent
with the City's policy. There is significant lighting along Jackson Street all the way to
Maple Lane. Labore Avenue had a light installed at the end of the street in 2008 to bring
it up to par with the policy. Maple Lane has decorative light posts and lights along the
entire street that were put in when the street was developed. Bryan Avenue is the only
1
