consultation with MNDOT would occur. We would then give them an
idea of the possibilities in this regard as well as the estimated
cost. This information could be presented at an improvement
hearing to be held sometime in January.
The City Administrator thanked those in attendance for their
interest and input. The people present expressed their
appreciation for the City considering their petition.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
* Call for improvement hearing to be held in the middle
of January for water main and street improvement
projects to give us the flexibility to deal with that
possibility. Based on the results of that hearing, the
street portion of the project could be deleted.
* The Council should also consider that the cost in
restoring their bituminous roadway should be considered
in the assessment formula. While we should restore the
roadway to a reasonable condition, it seems
questionable to upgrade the roadway without assessing
them for that additional cost. Given the limited
section that likely exists, some upgrade may be
necessary to give them a reasonable road surface. This
could be another topic discussed at the improvement
hearing.
* Easements will be needed to give us access to this
area.
Page 13
