Hanson In June of 1997, the Council adopted the attached Old Fire Hall Use Policy subject to a six -month review of our experience in leasing the lower level of this facility. Through the end of January, the Old Fire Hall has been leased on 12 occasions (1 shower, 1 wedding reception, 4 birthday parties, and 6 business meetings). These rentals generated $900 in revenue ($75 per 6 -hour rental) for the City. Over the next three months there are 4 reservations for the facility (1 anniversary party and 3 business meetings). The rental process has been working smoothly; staff time in leasing the facility is relatively minimal; cleaning by City staff takes an average of approximately 1 'h hours after each use. There have been no negative comments or concerns expressed to me about the facility from those who have leased it. One issue which needs to be addressed is whether or not the fee should be pro -rated for uses less than 6 hours in duration. One potential user would be interested in renting the facility on a weekly basis for a stay -at- home - mother's group, and anticipate using the facility for two hours at a time. If the Council decided to allow for pro - rating the rental fee, revenue would be substantially decreased given that the business meetings which are being held at the Old Fire Hall fairly regularly are of two hours duration. As you will recall, the building capacity has been limited to 75 people given the amount of on -site parking. Actual capacity of the building is 142 people. Page 14
