OLD FIRE HALL USE POLICY The following guidelines are intended to govern the use of the Old Fire Hall by non -City entities. It is to be understood that City functions will have first priority for use of the facilities in question. Regularly scheduled, non -City uses would have the second priority. All other uses would be on a first -come, first served basis, subject to staff determination. The areas of the building to which access would be granted are limited to the lower level, including kitchen and restroom facilities. Access to other areas of the building is to be allowed only with specific permission by City staff. * Access to the Old Fire Hall is limited to adult - based, non - profit groups with a civic purpose and community benefit. Access is not allowed to groups created for private benefit or gain. Approved groups are as follows: Canadian Days Committee; Little Canada Fire Department; Little Canada Historical Society; Little Canada Recreation Association; Other Groups of which the City is a member and/or may be hosting a meeting. Any group not included in the list as being "approved" for Old Fire Hall use would have to make a written application to City staff. This application must document the group's purpose, background, key officials, and intended functions to be conducted in the building. Staff will review the submittals and decide whether the group meets the parameters established. If the request were denied, the group would have the option of appealing staff's decision to the City Council. Access to and use of the Old Fire Hall is allowed to private individuals who have an approved facility permit. The Old Fire Hall is a City- designated storm/emergency shelter. The use of the Old Fire Hall for fund- raising activities is not allowed, except by City - approved groups. * For any meeting that is open to the general public, City staff may need to be present to open, supervise, and secure the building. A charge for this service will be imposed, if it is determined necessary. State and County regulations must be complied with in regard to food and liquor sales. * Issuance of keys and/or security codes is at the sole discretion of the City Administrator. The privilege of using the facilities in question can be revoked at any time due to misuse of the building or other issues of concern as determined by the City. Page 16
