Mayor & City Council
February 20, 1998
Page 2
• east and west ends. The last drawing is the more reasonable approach with the curve
elongated as much as possible. No matter which situation you look at, it appears to create
a waste of land caused by the creation of the curve. There are other traffic concerns such
as storage of cars at the intersection, visibility of signal lights as one approaches, and
distance from the C2 intersection. I will be informing Mr. Wise of this situation and
sending him these drawings. I hope to have more information to report on this at
Wednesday's meeting as well.
• Status of Appraisals. Given the uncertainty with the assembly of the south site for the
theater project, we are still going ahead with the appraisal of the bowling alley and First
Bank properties. Pending the outcome of my discussion with the Winters early next
week, I will have a recommendation as to whether we should proceed with appraisals on
their property.
• Iona Lane Buffer. At our last workshop, there was discussion about the designation of a
100 -foot buffer zone as requested by the Iona Lane residents. Attached is the information
relative to the enactment of the buffer zone with the Cedars Lakeside project as well as
their letter of request for us to do the same with the redevelopment project.
• Acquisition Guidelines. For your information, I have attached a copy of the acquisition
guidelines we adopted in September of 1995. While they do not state we won't condemn
single family residences, I am sure you recall that statement being made many times at
various meetings. As these guidelines indicate, we attempted to keep our options open.
The Council may want to discuss modifications to these guidelines as deemed
appropriate.
This is the information I have to discuss for Wednesday's workshop to -date. hopefully, we will
have some positive developments prior to Wednesday's meeting.
JRH:kpv
Enclosures
Page 2
