Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
Thanks again for taking the time to meet with us on Tuesday evening. Mayor Fahey, Council
Member Pedersen, and I appreciated your willingness to talk to us about the redevelopment
project and your possible interest in selling your home. As we stated at Tuesday's meeting, we
respect your position on this matter and understand the strong emotions associated with a
possible sale of your home given long -term residency. While I do not want to add to your
frustrations, I do feel it is important to document some of the key factors and provide you with
every possible opportunity to protect your interests as property owners.
The key points of our redevelopment project as they relate to your property are as follows:
• The City has opportunity to obtain a 17- screen theater project. If the theater project
moves forward, other redevelopment will happen. At the present time, the theater seems
to be a very real possibility.
• The site which provides enough Iand area and the best visibility for the theater includes
the Venetian Inn, Earl Cardinal, Sherman Rutzick, Ultimate Golf, Tierney's Liquor,
Lincoln Pawn Shop, Elaine's, and your properties. This creates a total site of about 12 A
acres.
• Your property at 2736 Rice Street and Elaine's property at 2744 Rice Street are obviously
critical to this site assembly. They help to provide significant acreage and a more
rectangular project boundary to ensure the best site development options.
• You have stated that you are not interested in selling your property at this time. You
indicated that Elaine feels the same way.
• It may be possible to exclude your properties from this site layout by moving the theater
to the north. We will be pursuing this with representatives of the theater group to
determine their interest.
Page 3
