He indicated that it would be possible to do a
combination at Nadeau Park.
Fahey noted the $50,000 budget for this improvement. Maida pointed out
that $30,000 was allocated for the playground structure improvement and
$20,000 for other elements and contingency.
Sanders indicated that he would put together two or three proposals for
the improvement of Nadeau Park playground structure for review by the
Commission at its next meeting. He indicated that the next step would
then be to conduct a neighborhood meeting to obtain that input.
Fahey noted that the Nadeau Park improvement is scheduled for 2014 in
the General Capital Improvement Budget. The Director indicated that this
improvement is being moved to 2013, and the General Capital
Improvement Budget will he amended accordingly. He also noted that the
budget had contained revenue from the potential sale of the City's Twin
Lake Blvd. property. Given the current economy, this revenue was
removed from the Budget. The Director indicated that in order to balance
the budget, the Council removed the Spooner Park lower shelter
improvement from the budget. It had been scheduled for 2017. The
Director indicated that if additional revenue is identified, that
improvement could be added back into the General Capital Improvement
Budget at some time in the future.
It was again noted that alternative plans for the Nadeau Park improvement
will be presented at the Commission's next meeting. There was some
discussion about saving elements of the current structure, noting the
amount of wood utilized in this playground structure. Maida asked if
some of the features could be sold. Sanders pointed out that a sale would
be difficult as the equipment does not meet current safety or accessibility
standards. Heikke suggested that the alternatives presented include
pricing and that that pricing be broken down by specific playground
section.
The Director again noted that the Spooner Park lower shelter was
removed from the General Capital Improvement Budget in order to
balance that budget. He reported that there was discussion at the
Council's budget workshop meeting relative to the Troutbrook Trail
improvement. It was suggested that the City determine what is necessary
to satisfy the permit for the railroad crossing only. The discussion was
that if the Troutbrook Trail is given regional trail status, the cost of the
completion of this trail link would borne by the County. The Director
4
