[Other capabilities: C + +, graphics processing, 3 -D terrain rendering, Image processing, <br />Computer vision, FPGA design] <br />Visiting Assistant Professor: After completion of the Ph.D. degree, one academic year was <br />spent at Purdue University in the school of Electrical Engineering. While at Purdue, Dr. <br />Roberts instructed a course in Analog Integrated Circuits and created and taught a graduate - <br />level course in Computer Vision. During this time, research efforts include image <br />understanding, dynamic path planning, and world representation schemes for mobile robots. <br />Research Assistant (Ph.D. EE): While earning his doctorate, Dr. Roberts worked with Prof. <br />A.C. Kak in the areas of image processing and computerized tomography. His research <br />topic was Reflection Mode Diffraction Tomography under which he explored new techniques <br />of non - destructively generating cross- sectional images of objects with the use of reflected <br />ultrasound wavefronts. <br />Research Assistant (M.S. EE): The Masters degree research was performed on two separate <br />topics. Work with Prof. Kak, involved the use of zero crossing statistics in image processing. <br />The principal application is in passive, binocular stereo computer vision. The other topic, <br />performed with Prof. W.L. Weeks, involved the detection of incipient faults in underground <br />high voltage cable. Effort on this topic involved software and digital hardware development <br />for the detection system. <br />Publications: <br />• B. Roberts and A.
