MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 13, 2013
VACATION
OF STREET
EASEMENT
WITHIN
PROPOSED
PINETREE
POND PLAT
GOAL -
INCREASE
COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT -
DIVERSITY
The City Administrator reported that there is a 33 foot wide street
easement within the proposed Pinetree Pond plat lying between
2945 and 2959 LaBore Road and extending to the north. Based on
the proposed plat, it will be necessary to vacate this street easement.
The Administrator indicated that there have been some discussions
with adjacent property owners about this proposed vacation, with
some property owners taking the position that the easement should be
preserved. The Administrator reported that City staff is continuing to
work through these issues and develop some options. He recommended,
however, that the Council call for a public hearing to consider the vacation
at the March 27, 2013 Council meeting. Ile also pointed out that given the
vacation is City- initiated, it will take four affirmative votes of the Council
to vacate the easement.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -2 -27 — CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING
FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27, 2013, AT 7:30 P.M. TO CONSIDER
THE VACATION OF STREET EASEMENT AS RECORDED IN
DOCUMENT NO. 1729438
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The City Administrator pointed out that at the 2013 Goal Setting Session
the goal "Increase Community Involvement - Diversity" was established.
The Administrator noted the need to develop an action plan for this goal,
but in order to do so, the goal needs some definition.
The Council agreed that the goal was somewhat nebulous as stated, and
the consensus was to establish a committee to better define the goal and
develop an action plan. It was suggested that the individual who
suggested this goal should be contacted and asked to serve on the
committee. The Council also determined that an article should be
included in the City's newsletter seeking committee members.
The Council and City Administrator discussed the various opportunities
for citizen involvement within the City.
7
