MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 19, 2013
Administrator stated that the City would check with the post office to see
if mailboxes could be located on both sides of the street.
George Rossez, 350 Little Canada Road, noted that the assessment roll
shows his property as being 160 feet wide and to his knowledge it is 100
feet wide. The City Engineer indicated that he would verify footages in
preparation of the final assessment roll. Rossez indicated that it appears
he would lose 3 to 4 parking spaces to this improvement. The Engineer
replied that it appears he would lose at least one, and noted that there are a
few properties along Little Canada Road that have parking within the
street right-of-way. The Engineer stated that typically the County will
require that such parking be moved off the right -of -way, but indicated that
they have not taken this stance for this improvement. Rossez indicated
that it may be beneficial for him to work with St. John's Church on a
shared parking arrangement.
John VanValkenburg, 303 Little Canada Road, pointed out that his
property already has curb and gutter and a sidewalk, and asked that the
City consider an adjustment in the proposed assessment given these
improvements already exist adjacent to his property. The City
Administrator noted that there are a lot of aspects to this improvement and
the goal of the City is to treat properties in an equitable manner. He
indicated that City staff would review the proposed assessment roll from
an equity standpoint and property owners would be informed of any
changes.
Keis asked if there was anyone present in opposition to the improvement.
No one indicated any opposition.
The City Administrator reported that City staff has been working with St.
John's Church relative to the impact that this improvement will have on
their property. St. John's has expressed concern about their proposed
assessment. The Administrator also noted that there will be some right -of-
way acquisitions needed from this property.
There was no one else present from the general public wishing to
comment on this improvement.
Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -2 -29 — ORDERING IMPROVEMENT NO.
2012 -06 AND PREPARATION OF PLANS FOR LITTLE CANADA
ROAD (I35E TO EDGERTON STREET) BY RECLAMATION OF
10
