1997 Improvement Projects
Page Two
Another issue relates to the Aspen Grove Addition. At our
improvement hearing, some residents indicated that there are poor
drainage conditions existing in rear yards in addition to the
grade being extremely steep. We have investigated this issue and
it appears that options exist to remedy this problem. The
attached report prepared by Paul Heuer provides for the
installation of a pipe that would discharge to a pond to the
south of this area. We would then fill and restore the turf.
Based on this information, staff would like authority to meet
with the affected property owners to determine their preference
in this matter. Subject to consensus of the neighborhood and
acceptance of associated costs, we would recommend we add this
work scope as a bid alternate to the Arcade project.
Two other work items are listed in our 1997 Infrastructure
Improvement Budget. They are construction of a blacktop path on
Centerville Road estimated at $10,000, and construction of a
sidewalk on Lakeshore Avenue between Australian and County Road C
estimated at $10,000. At this point in time, the Engineer has
not included these items in the plans and specs. I would like
the Council's direction on this matter before authorizing the
Engineer to proceed. (We may want to consider postponing the
sidewalk on Australian in order to combine it with the Little
Canada Road project. This project is in closer proximity and
includes similar work items.
The City Engineer will be present at Wednesday's meeting to
answer any questions on this project.
Page 24
