515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
February 4, 1997
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
RE: Old Fire Station Use Policy
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMIMSTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
I have discussed the proposed Old Fire Station use policy with
the Fire Chief. The Chief indicated his agreement with the use
policy as proposed, noting that the Fire Department membership is
aware of the fact that personal use of the Old Fire Station is
not available to them. The Fire Department would, however, like
to be permitted to continue use of the building for any
department - related functions. These may include Fire Department
meetings or retirement parties for retiring fire fighters.
The Chief noted that ownership of the tables and chairs at the
Old Fire Station has been retained by the Fire Department. These
tables and chairs are borrowed to fire fighters for their
personal use on occasion.
With regard to naming the building, the Chief pointed out the
involvement of the early fire fighters in the planning and
construction of the Old Fire Station. Therefore, his suggestion
would be to name the building in honor of these fire fighters.
Page 19
