As a public policy maker, you play a critical role in many of the processes which can help law enforcement serve the citizenry better and make our communities safer. The Ramsey County Sheriff's Department is committed to building the relationships and initiating the programs and processes necessary to most effectively serve the citizens of Ramsey County. To help foster our partnership, I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you and your staff to visit the Sheriff's Department Patrol Division located at 655 West County Road E in Shoreview. We will be offering three open houses exclusively for elected and appointed government officials and their staff. You will be given a two hour guided tour of our facility and it's operations. You will observe and learn about our communication center (911 system), uniform patrol, general investigations, narcotics, crime prevention, water and snow patrol, D.A.R.E., school patrol, school liaison and our volunteer programs which involve citizens with law enforcement. Also on display will be some of our specialized units such as the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) and the Sheriffs Dive Team (S.D.T.). In addition, we will have available an opportunity for you to use our Firearms Training System (F.A.T.S.) Simulation machine, designed to test officers' abilities to use good judgement in shoot/don't shoot situations. For your convenience the open house will be offered on three occasions - Monday, March 10th at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 12th at 2 p.m. and Thursday, March 13th at 6:30 p.m. The tours will last approximately two hours and personnel will be on hand to answer any questions.
