6) Summary Report Prepared - Little Canada Public Works Director
will prepare a summary report of all inspections and compile a
prioritized list of I/I rehabilitation recommendations. Cost
estimates for the repairs will be included.
Schedule
The project is anticipated to begin in early October, 1996.
Tasks 2 and 3 will be completed by November, 1996. Task 4, TV
inspection, will be completed by the end of December, 1996.
Tasks 1 and 5 will be accomplished by the end of September, 1997.
Task 6, summary report, will be completed in November, 1997 and be
presented to the Little Canada City Council. The summary report
and related documents will be sent to the Metropolitan Council when
approved by the City Council.
Budget
The following is a listing of the estimated project budget items
according to the tasks described previously.
$10,000 - Little Canada Administrative and Public Works broken
down as follows:
$1,500 - Administrative work for letters and notices.
$8,500 - Public Works for manhole inspection and sewer
cleaning.
$4,000 - Contract with TV inspection firm for about 15,000 to
16,000 feet of sewer inspection.
$6,000 - Contract with inspection firm for sump pump inspections.
Metropolitan System Benefits
The major benefits of this project are locating all significant I/I
sources in the most highly suspect area of the Little Canada sewer
system and initiating the City Public Works staff on a proactive
approach toward a system -wide I/I investigation. Previous
investigation efforts have been done in specific isolated sewers.
The total I/I in these sewer districts were estimated to be about
39% of the total flow. This amounts to an estimated 26 million
gallons per year in districts 3 and 4. The estimated I/I in the
specific study area is about 15 to 18 million gallons per year.
The actual removable I/I we will document will be lower.
Cost Effectiveness of this Project
This estimated I/I to locate in this specific study area is worth
$20,700 to 24,800 per year, in MCES service charges. This is based
on locating 15 to 18 MGY of I /I. Some of the inflow related I/I
problems will be difficult to quantify. We may be able to locate
Page 44
