BOB FLETCHER
RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF
14 W. Kellogg Boulevard
St. Paul, Minnesota 55102 -1648
Telephone: (612) 266 -9300
Telefacsimile: (612) 266 -9326
Dear Neighborhood Watch Participants,
As of January 1, 1997, I became the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department Crime Prevention
Officer for the 7 Contract Cities (Arden Hills, Gem Lake, Little Canada, North Oaks, Shoreview,
Vadnais Heights and White Bear Township). I, along with the help of other staff, will be
attempting to aggressively start and improve the Neighborhood Watch Groups in these Cities.
When a burglary occurs, one suffers not only a monetary loss in terms of valuable and cherished
possessions, but also the loss of ones sense of security. The question "Are they going to come
back ?" has probably crossed your mind. While this possibility exists, it is usually the exception
rather than the rule.
One of the best ways to prevent crime is to reduce the opportunity for crime to occur. There are
many steps you can take to reduce the criminal's opportunity to victimize you. Those steps may
include upgrading the locks or securing windows in your home, installing an alarm system, or
simply making a change in some portion of your life style (doing something in a different way).
The Crime Prevention Unit of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department offers a residential
security survey free of charge to any resident in the 7 contract cities. A Crime Prevention Officer
or staff member will come to your home, assess the current level of security in your home and
make recommendations where improvements can be made. The officer will also provide written
literature on physical security and personal safety.
If you would like to take advantage of the Residential Security Survey or would like to know
more about the other Crime Prevention Programs offered by the Ramsey County Sheriff's
Department, please contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 490 -4503.
much.
Crime
a - , Deputy
vention Officer
ADULT DETENTION DIVISION (612) 266 -9350 • CIVIL P
Page 23
DIVISION (612) 481-1317 • WARRANTS (612) 266 -9320
