I did this because it was
my understanding that none of the authorized charities in Little Canada was interested in
conducting a pulltab operation at Saxon Lanes.
The Council denied my request stating that there were numerous charities that had been
authorized and I should go back and negotiate a lease with one of them.
Therefore, by this letter, 1 am officially soliciting your interest in setting up a pulltab
booth at Saxon Lanes. My wish would be to receive the lawful maximum rent of $1,000
per month as is customary in the bowling business. However, you may feel free to give
me a bid for whatever your organization may decide upon.
The Mayor, in his lecture to me, touched on security problems at Saxon Lanes. There are
two things you should consider on this issue. The first is that I have pulltabs in five other
bowling centers and security in those places has never been a problem. The second is
that state gambling laws require the operator to be solely responsible for security and the
lessor cannot be held accountable. However, we will help secure your funds in any way
we can within the law.
If you are interested in pursuing discussions on this matter or if you wish to submit your
offer, please respond in writing. I would appreciate your response by March 1, 1997.
Sincerely,
SAXON LANES
Harvey L. Anderson
President
Page 40
