Hanson
City Administrator
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
Dear Mr. Hanson:
Thank you for your recent telephone call concerning questions raised by a Little Canada
resident about the launching of boats as part of the revised Lake Gervais Use Ordinance
#1301.
The old Ordinance #1301 was very specific on this subject saying in 1301.020 (4):
No person shall launch into the water, or remove therefrom, any boat, canoe,
float or other watercraft from or upon any public bathing beach or area of land
designated as a Public Bathing Beach within Little Canada.
When we suggested to the DNR in a Draft version of the revised Ordinance that we
continue with the old language for the issue of boat launching, the DRN asked that the
"...language can be simplified." The DNR offered the wording that now appears.
I believe the bottom line is the same. The new language can be interrupted to mean that
canoes can be prohibited from launching at the beach area. On the other hand to my
knowledge I don't think it's been a problem.
ark Weavers
Gervais Lake Association
c: Mugs Nardini
Page 157
