This model views youth as resources,
rather than problems. Restorative measures try to intervene on problems rather than more
traditional methods of punishment. Teen Court will facilitate a process for youth offenders
to learn from their mistakes, reconcile, and resolve problems.
Intergenerational Model:
Adults in the community will be integrated into the completion of the offenders
consequences. The goal will be to engage that young person with positive adult influences
and role models in the community.
40 Developmental Assets:
Sentencing/Consequence guidelines will promote external and internal developmental
assets of the offender. The external assets that will be promoted include: support,
empowerment, boundaries, exceptions, and use of time. The internal developmental assets
being targeted will focus on values, educational commitment, positive identity, and social
competencies.
Page 177
