MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 8, 1997
Leis reported that the developer of the Yorkton Ridge neighborhood
offered a catalog of homes to choose from when people began building on
this street. Leis did not feel the house proposed to be moved in fit the
criteria that has been established. Leis was also concern that there is not a
firm commitment on the part of Mr. Pajari for the improvements which
would be made and asked the timeframe for making these improvements.
The City Planner replied that as part of the CUP process, improvements
would have to be completed before an occupancy permit would be issued
for the house.
Leis asked if his opinion made any difference.
Keis responded that the Commission appreciates the input, but noted that
Mr. Leis has not shown that there is a difference in property values
between the house to be moved in and the existing homes in the
neighborhood.
The Planner suggested that Mr. Leis could put his information together
and present it at the City Council meeting.
Keis felt that the home was not drastically different from the existing
homes on Yorkton Ridge in terms of construction techniques and siding.
Montour pointed out that the house located across the street from this lot is
almost identical to the house Mr. Pajari would move in after
improvements are made.
Leis felt Pajari was trying to put lipstick on a pig. Leis stated that he is
concerned that there is not enough formal commitment on the part of Mr.
Pajari as to what his plans are for upgrading the house.
DeLonais pointed out that the finished square footage of the house would
be greater than three other homes in the immediate area.
Leis stated that he pays a lot of property taxes and purchased his house
with the understanding that the houses in the neighborhood would be very
much the same. Leis indicated that all his neighbors oppose the proposal
and have asked him to come to the Planning Commission meeting and
represent them. Leis asked if there has been any other comments from the
neighborhood.
DeLonais reported that Mr. Chuck Nelson, 120 Yorkton Ridge, submitted
a letter in opposition of the CUP.
4
Page 41
