Fahey <br />COUNCIL <br />Beverly Scalze <br />Jim LaValie <br />Steve Morelan <br />Bob Pedersen <br />ADMINISTRATOR <br />Joel R Hanson <br />TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant <br />RE: Old Fire Hall — Community Room Space <br />As directed by the Council below is an outline of the issues involved in the leasing of the <br />lower level of the Old Fire Hall as community room space. <br />Capacity: 142 people <br />Parking: 47 parking spaces are required by City Code. There are 25 spaces on -site. <br />As indicated by the City Planner, a Conditional Use Permit could be <br />approved for off -site parking allowing the parking lot at the corner of <br />Little Canada Road and McMenemy Street to be utilized. <br />Needed <br />Equipment: New Tables and Chairs, plus storage racks, for approximately 150 people <br />($4,100) ($3,940). One large coffee pot ($160). <br />Needed <br />Improvements: Gated area to provide security for LCRA equipment ($500). Additional <br />($4,500) paving of lower parking area ($4,000). <br />Staff Time: Staff to process rental requests, collect fees and damage deposits, issue <br />and collect key to building, inspect premises to ensure that they are <br />properly cleaned, refund damage deposits when appropriate. <br />Janitorial time estimated at 2 hours for routine cleaning, and anywhere <br />from 3 to 8 hours if the hall has not been properly cleaned. Cost for <br />cleaning estimated at $12 per hour, including supplies. <br />Utility Costs: The 1996 gas and electric bill for the Old Fire Hall was $2,940.41. <br />Dividing that figure by 365 days, gives us a utility cost of $8.05 per day. <br />Assume $15.00 per day if inclusion of water and sewer and allowing for <br />increases. <br />Page 21 <br />
